A great home design anticipates how families grow, how routines evolve and how life unfolds across years. Our National Design Manager, Jeff Bugeja, works closely with homebuyers and design teams to understand what truly elevates everyday living. His top four favourite designs reflect thoughtful planning, meaningful zones and a genuine understanding of how Australians live.

Jeff says, “When choosing a floor plan, think about your daily rhythm, how you move through your home and how the spaces support those moments. That’s when design becomes personal.”

Here are the four homes Jeff has designed, each delivering exceptional living in its own way.

The Valletta, where luxury meets everyday comfort

“The Valletta 499-D54VE has fast become one of our most admired designs. It delivers a sense of openness and calm from the moment you walk through the door. The proportions are generous without being overwhelming and the layout balances social spaces with quiet retreats.

“A home should feel welcoming the second you step inside. With the Valletta 499-D54, you get that immediate sense of flow and balance, which is something families respond to.”

“It’s standout features include the large kitchen hub, the opulent void in the living room, a sophisticated primary suite, ensuites to all the bedrooms, expansive guest ensuite on the ground floor and living areas that feel connected, but not crowded. The Valletta suits families wanting a statement design that remains practical through the busy years of work, school and weekend life.”

The Panama, single storey living with impressive zoning

The Panama 266-S29, another of Jeff’s favourites, continues to lead as one of the most popular single-storey designs, thanks to its smart use of space and zoning. The floor plan brings together open plan living, an inviting alfresco and a private master suite at the front, creating a layout that feels intentional and intuitive.

Jeff says, “Modern living is built around zones. When the layout supports your lifestyle, the home does the heavy lifting for you.”

“Families love how seamlessly the living, dining and outdoor areas connect, making the Panama ideal for entertainers, young families and anyone wanting accessibility without sacrificing style. The layout I designed makes even a standard suburban block feel generous.”

The Colorado, a standout for acreage and wide-frontage blocks

The Colorado 349-S38 is the design Jeff recommends for families wanting a home that matches the scale of their land. Created for acreage and large blocks, the Colorado delivers extraordinary space on a single level with multiple living areas, generous bedrooms and an entertainer’s kitchen that anchors the home.

“If you are building on a large block, you want spaces that breathe. The Colorado gives families room to spread out while still creating that sense of togetherness.”

“The design also offers multi-generational flexibility, expansive living zones and an impressive sense of arrival. It is perfect for households who value open space, nature, privacy and an uncompromising sense of comfort.”

The Legano, smart design with family appeal

The Legano 510-D55 rounds out Jeff’s top four with its well-considered balance of style and everyday functionality. This design shines for its efficient floor plan, inviting atmosphere and the way it brings the family together in the central living zone.

Jeff says, “This house has got the lot. Good design is about how people use the home every day and how the plan supports that, including multi-generational.

“The Legano’s thoughtful layout includes a generous kitchen and family area, handy mudroom which leads to the laundry, plenty of storage well positioned bedrooms, including the ground floor guest suite, ensuite to all bedrooms, two dressing rooms in the master suite and a flow that makes busy routines feel easier. The pièce de resistance is the void, which the whole house is designed around.”

“It is ideal for families wanting a modern, practical and beautifully executed home that grows with them.”

Building with intention

Across the Valletta, Panama, Colorado and Legano, there is a shared design philosophy: homes must support real life. They should help families connect, create comfort, offer privacy when needed and evolve as the years go on.

Jeff’s advice for anyone exploring floor plans is. “Walk through the display homes. Feel the flow, notice the entry and sense how the spaces work together. The right design will always feel natural.”
