Holi - also known as the Festival of Colour - is one of the most vibrant and joy‑filled celebrations on the cultural calendar. Observed by millions around the world and traditionally marking the arrival of spring in India, Holi is a time to embrace new beginnings, strengthen connections and welcome positivity for the year ahead.

Here in Australia, we celebrate Holi in autumn, but the spirit of renewal and togetherness remains just as meaningful. Across the globe, Holi has become a joyful moment for communities to come together, share colour, enjoy festive food and celebrate unity.

Around the same time, many Sikh communities observe Hola Mohalla – a three‑day festival that this year, starts on the same day as Holi. Founded by Guru Gobind Singh, Hola Mohalla is a celebration of courage, community and service.

It’s marked with energetic martial arts displays, colourful processions, poetry and shared meals (langar), bringing people together in a spirit of strength, unity and compassion.

For many families, Holi and Hola Mohalla are celebrated side‑by‑side, creating a rich and meaningful festive period.

Click here to visit our Instagram where Sumit and Natasa from our Kalkallo – Cloverton display centre have a special message for all, this Holi and Hola Mohalla.

Whether you’re hosting family, celebrating with friends or simply embracing the colour of the season, here are a few simple ways to bring Holi energy into your home:

  • Choose a bright colour palette: Decorate with vibrant textiles, flowers or table settings to reflect the joyful spirit of Holi.
  • Create a festive entryway: A colourful wreath, welcome sign or floral arrangement can set a cheerful tone as guests arrive.
  • Add colour-themed snack or drink stations: Bowls filled with fruit, sweets or colourful beverages can double as décor.

To share a little of the Holi magic with our visitors, we’ve created a Holi‑themed colouring sheet that children (and grown‑ups!) can enjoy. Pick yours up at your local display centre or from our head office design showroom.

To everyone celebrating, we wish you a joyful, colourful and meaningful Holi.

Happy Holi from the Henley team!
